PaulWetz' new music video for "People" - out now!

‘People’ by PaulWetz was the second single he released with us on hfn. Now he strikes back with an impressive music video, directed by Johannes Boger and Paul himself: The protagonist (played by Gerit Valdix) sits alone on the sofa at home, watches TV, drinks beer and eats fast food. You kind of know it yourself. You make yourself comfortable, either numb yourself or you do watch the news and then get angry. Why doesn't anyone do anything about it? That's a scandal! And that's exactly what Paul is about in “People”. We block our own tomorrow, our future, by our inaction. Unfortunately, the topic couldn't be more up-to-date and it is not light material either.

It's a video about climate crisis. About waking up. Premiered on soundkartell.de alongside an interview, where Paul talks some more about what this topic means to him.

The song has been written in Istanbul when Paul was working with Turkish singer Sena Sener. The atmosphere is reflective and floaty, but with an infectious bubbling bassline and synth hook. The influence of the big city inspired Paul, who lives near Germany’s Black Forest, to ruminate on people’s obliviousness to their own role in the earth’s issues:

“The rough, big, dirty city made it far more obvious what we humans do to this planet than I had ever felt before. It made me realize that we are a huge amount of people having a destructive lifestyle at the same time without feeling any responsibility for it.” says Paul.

The ‘Dark Rave Edit’ is a rather clubby approach of the song with a stronger bassline and distorted vocals that create an even darker atmosphere.
