In 2010 – while having already gained notoriety as a DJ and Producer – his album debut ‘Standing On Top Of Utopia‘, confirmed his presence on an even grander level. Radio friendly, intelligent and feel-good electronic pop never sounded so fresh.

Now with ‘Fool‘ Kasper continues his wild and ecstatic journey into the future of music. The second single to feature from the new long-player is the casually cool ‘Deep Is The Breath‘. Now a permanent fixture in Kasper‘s more song-based endeavours, ex-Murder and I Got You On Tape vocalist Jacob Bellens features alongside up-coming talent Emma Acs in the tantalising original. A typical mixture of throbbing electronic pop and heartfelt songwriting, this first taste of ‘Fool‘ is sure to alight your curiosities and even more.

This release presents a veritable mixture of remixes, firstly kicking out the jams with the Permanent Vacation Mix – a full-bodied, skillfully executed re-dub in glorious retro-futurism. Echoing and spinning slowly out of control, its a subtle and infectious remix that draws the best out of the original while constructing an all-new, deeply electronic vibe. A throbbing analog bassline leads this broken beat excursion which is already proving to be quite a monster on the dancefloors. A crafty instrumental remix of Permanent Vacation‘s stunning mix is also included, offering a more reflective, cinematic experience.

Wolf + Lamb‘s Pillow Talk take centre stage next with their remix, featuring Tone of Arc. Lively, organic and expertly produced, their mix has a live-jam feel complete with classic dub-style vocal cuts and trippy synth lines swirling around the bassy, slightly broken-beated groove. A melodic chorus greets us mid-way before more throw-down inducing deepness.
Finnish Duo Hannulelauri hand in a special remix package in itself that is spread over 2 versions. Their ‘Male‘ mix comes in the form of an old-school vibed, analog club killer. Primed for the higher energy levels but built for deeper, discerning dance floors, this medium-paced house cut has a few special tricks up its sleeve.

Their ‘Dub‘ version without vocals rides their well-crafted drums to the front of the mix.

Minimalism in today‘s music is quite a tricky thing. The visionary restriction to the essence, to the hypnotic nudity of the beat‘s essence can still sharpen the senses in the year 2006… or in the worst case debases music to the abstraction of aural mathematics. Nobody is so aware of this as Gudio Schneider. „I want to send my listeners on a journey based on hypnotic grooves, but I like to break through the flow of sound with irritating details“, says Guido. Born and raised in Celle (Germany) Guido moved to Berlin in 1996, and since his first releases Guido stands for the cultivation of reduction in a musical area that we tend to describe as Tech-House.

It‘s been high time for Guido Schneider and Poker Flat to take their relation to the next level with a full artist album. Last but not least „Focus On“ presents an exciting album-concept on Poker Flat. Alongside six new tracks, which are  released simultaneously on vinyl, the album features a number of released tracks and remixes which now appear on CD for the first time. On the CD-format Guido mixes the tracks into a 67 minute subtle flow that almost completely dissolves the borders of the individual tracks. „Focus On“ features trippy vocal-hypnoses with ping-pong-percussions („Too Many Voices“) alongside streamlined pumping House-sketches („Re-Moved“), flangercurves reminiscent of the Plastikman releases („Rumours“) and spoiled Dub (Brtschitsch & Galluzzi / „Regenschauer Remix“) all edited and mixed together into a psychoactive extraordinary soundcocktail of the first quality grade. At least minimal House rarely sounded so impulsive and funky with such a perfekt sound-architecture. Whirring and intensive, exciting new and consequent down to the detail, „Focus On: Gudio Schneider“ is the blueprint for the sound of the summer of 2006!

The collaboration is part of a Danish-German trade project (Sóley is signed to Berlin-based label Morr Music). The two acts were selected by a Danish-German music industry/press jury consisting of Jan Sneum (Editor-in-chief, DR P6 Beat, DK), Michael Schuster (CEO at Cargo Records, Germany), Mona Rübsamen (CEO / head of programme at key Berlin music radio Flux FM) and Christoph Diekmann (CEO at German PR company Area Entertainment,), Søren B. Kristensen (owner of Danish label Rocktraum), Esben Marcher (Head of booking at SPOT Festival, Director at Copenhagen venue Forbrændingen).

Darkness Falls’ music will merge in nicely with Sóley’s catchy folk melodies and soothing piano-tones, who will play material from her internationally highly successful 2011 album We Sink.

Sóley Stefánsdóttir commented: “I think it could be fun to play on each other’s songs, since our styles are so different.” Josephine Philip agreed: “This is also a great way to increase artistic collaboration between the Nordic countries. We look forward to it!”
